A classic of American mid-century design. Edward Wormley designed the Model 5002 "Thebes" stool for Dunbar at the height of the firm's golden era — the architectural lines, the carefully resolved proportions, and the quietly sculptural cross-stretcher are pure Wormley: tailored without being stiff, refined without overworking.
The mahogany frames carry a warm, original patina; the woven upholstered cushions add the textural counterweight Wormley typically sought between hard and soft. The pair reads as a single sculptural gesture — equally suited to use as footstools at the end of a sofa, additional seating around a low cocktail table, or the foot of a bed.
A documented piece of mid-century American furniture history, in a scale and finish that integrates easily into contemporary interiors as well as more period-correct mid-century rooms. Sold as a pair; available individually upon request.
