A pitcher from Strehla Keramik, the East German pottery that worked out of the town of Strehla until 1989. This example shows the maker's signature 'fat lava' technique — a thick, variegated drip glaze in beige and green pooling across a warm brown clay body — a treatment that defined the GDR's small but devoted post-war ceramics scene.
Pieces from this period are typically marked underneath with 'Strehla Keramik' inside a triangle and 'GDR'. Stands well on its own as a sculptural object, or used for stems and dried branches.
